- Did you know that in some elementary schools,
after Halloween and Christmas, Earth Day is the third largest celebrated
holiday?
- Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy
to watch a TV for three hours
- Earth Day started on April 22 in 1970
- If every newspaper was recycled, we could save
about 250,000,000 trees each year.
- More than 20,000,000 Hershey's Kisses are
wrapped each day, using 133 square miles of tinfoil. All that foil is
recyclable, but not many people know it.
- About only 10 percent of every landfill can be
cleaned up.
- Supposedly Scientists project it will take up to
400-500 YEARS for 1 disposable diaper to break down in a land fill!
- If just 25% of U.S. families used 10 fewer
plastic bags a month, they would save over 2.5 BILLION bags a year.
- Every day 50 to 100 species of plants and
animals become extinct as their habitat and human influences destroy them.
- Homeowners use up to 10 times more toxic
chemicals per acre than farmers.
