Weird Pet Facts by Jace

I (Jace) am posting again and this time it’s about pets! First I’ll talk about my cat named Einstein. He is a chubby dark brown and cream tabby with pale green eyes and is from the SPCA. Einstein enjoys eating, sleeping, and jumping up at people on his hind legs and battering their legs with his front paws. This morning I tripped on him while he was running and fell. I screamed really loudly which scared him and made him run even faster. After that I saw him hiding behind a couch with an expression on his face that said, “You hurt me!!!!” But Einstein wasn’t injured, and he’s gone back to his lazy, indulgent self.

These are some facts about pets I really enjoyed reading. I found them in a magazine called Pet Valu Companion.

  • Chocolate is poisonous to dogs and cats. Garlic shouldn’t be fed to cats, while grapes are toxic to dogs.
  • The memories of fish can last months, and they can also recognize each other.
  • 80% of dog owners bring their dog in the car, but just 17% use a restraint system. Also, 26% of dog owners place their dog in the front seat, though this can be hazardous.
  • Cat litter can be made using clay, pine, corn, wheat, recycled newsprint, and silica crystals.
  • Cat noses are 14 times more sensitive than a human’s.
  • The word hamster is related to a German word, ‘hamstern’, which means hoard. That’s not surprising since hamsters carry food around in their cheek pouches.

That took a very long time. Did you notice this and my other post are both about weird facts? This post took way longer, though.

My favourite quote ever: “I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.”-Dr. Seuss.
